The Origin Of The Mono-Human Race

In his book Sapiens, Yuval Noah Harari portrays the difference between humans and other animal species:

Individually, humans and animals are no different.

The real distinction between humans and animals is on the collective level. Humans are the only animals who have evolved to co-operate at a large numbers and they are flexible in co-operation.

You cannot persuade a Chimpanzees to give you a banana in return of telling him that look give me that banana so that after you die, you’ll go to heaven where you can eat infinite bananas.

Only humans do this. That’s why we control the planet. Other animals, like Ants, can cooperate, but they are rigid. Large scale co-operation is what made us, a badass species.

What enables us to co-operate? — Imagination. We can create and believe fiction. Other animals only can describe realities like water, trees. Humans learned the art of fictional story telling.

Governments, countries, corporations, rights, religions, money, is all fiction.

After thousands of years into being, fictional realities have become more powerful than objective realities.

Money is the sine-qua-non enabler and the most successful story ever invented and told by humans.

All of us might not believe in the same god, but money. Now, money can move mountains; literally.

Money moves the world.

So, it has become the custodian of the state of the planet.

Unfortunately, money can’t choose good or evil. So, it goes towards the one who controls the system.

The evolution of modern humans began with the developments in the scientific approach to looking at the world.

With the rise of imperialism and the ambition to capture and consume resources, the gold rush began in the 15th century. Till the time we reached the 19th century, humans got a complete picture of how the world looked.

We explored the nook and corner of the planet. The greed for resources was so much that we promoted violence, slavery, and inhumane treatment of other species.

Antarctica was the last continent sighted by explorers in the 18th century. Till then, we inhabited almost everywhere.

We got united at a cost paid by innocent beings.

Once we traversed every corner of the world, a different game already was being played- Resource consumption.

Every country joined the forces to become the most developed nation in the world.

The reasons for joining the developed club are many, the key among them are:

  • To rule the trade game and in turn gain supremacy.
  • To control the resources and consume them as and when desired.

This race to development left no country behind. As lagging behind could cost freedom and suppression, every nation joined at its own pace. Now the race has reached a point where the leaders have understood the cost of development. To pay the price, they’ve now popularized the concept of Sustainable Development.

Now, when every corner of the planet has been divided among humans, the only conscious species, other animals were forced to compromise. Many became extinct.

‘The world has enough for everyone’s need, but not enough for everyone’s greed.”

— Mahatma Gandhi

The earth is huge and we have united everyone. But, we are still dependent thinkers. We need others to think for us. Which, no doubt, affects our sanctity.

But, in some of the remotest corners of the planet, there still live humans who have remained uncontacted with our world.

They portray what humans naturally are.

Unlike us, they co-exist with nature. The Jarawa tribes on the Andaman Islands are one such kind.

These homo-sapiens have remained virgins against the forces of development.

They are the serendipitous homo-sapiens.

We, on the other hand, are mono homo-sapiens.

Mono-Sapiens, as I call them, are those who are schooled. They have gone through the same pattern that the curriculum wants them to go. They, although distinct, are influenced by the pro-development forces and know the whereabouts of the modern world.

Mono sapiens are conditioned homo-sapiens.

They wear clothes, they eat agricultural produce, they live in concrete jungles, they use machines, they know and follow a certain ideology, and they love comfort and money.

Where and How did It begin?

Individual Greed: The race for resource consumption

Invasion, wars, slavery …You know the history.

It is the single-most driver that united humans to carry every other mischief.

The other 3 that I have showcased below are enablers/catalysts of the human desire which we failed to take control of.

Schooling

What do schools teach?

Schools teach us to follow the established system. Living according to the terms of the system is the easiest path to living the most comfortable life.

Think again.

Do they teach how to live a fantastic life? Do they teach how to be satisfied?

No.

They teach a generalized curriculum. Everyone goes through the same set of knowledge. Everyone is expected to compete with each other.

Although it has become essential to enroll in school to know the etiquette of the world, you should question where the schooling system is failing and then make a conscious choice to course correct the harmful doctrines.

Money

The only fictional entity for which every mono-sapien love to sacrifice everything else.

Religion

Indoctrinating that a certain belief is the only way of life.

Religions were formed to match the collective needs of humans with the existing environmental conditions of that time. Few evolved, few didn’t.

The purpose of religious entities is to unite a group of humans. A group survives and thrives better than individuals. So, each religion, as you can observe, is based on the natural tendency of humans where a leader guides the group.

This kept the sanctity of a particular religion by securing it from outside intervention like clashes and alternate beliefs.

Another purpose of forming religion is to ease human life in harsh natural environments.

  • Religion keeps internal society in check of cruelties like rape and murder.
  • They safeguard illiterate humans from traversing a wrong territory like blind faith.
  • They guide individuals from getting mad due to loneliness and over-thinking.
  • They help families stick together and let society co-exist under the umbrella of belief and faith.

Religion, however, has become the most celebrated entity which unites and divides humans at the same time.

Now, although, every Mono-Sapien individual is born with some or other religious identity. However, no individual is a complete religious practitioner.

These 4 are the major drivers that manufactured monotonous humans.

Is It Bad?

No, it is not.

Even if it is, there is no return point.

We started all these systems for our convenience and safety.

However, in long term, we forgot the intention. We changed the meaning as per the convenience and started running a race — A greedy one.

Now, it is time for every individual to rethink the real purpose of the systems we have created. We need to become conscious of our choices.

This is the only way to create a harmonious and thriving society.
